Noé Diaz

He was born and spent his childhood in a village of farmers in the Valley of Etla, Oaxaca; a region full of traditions, legends and festivities that blend with the tilling and harvesting of the land, which also allowed him to come into contact with wild animals, mainly insects such as grasshoppers, praying mantises, chicatana ants and crabs, which were my favorite toys, under the shelter of the imposing flora of the Valley of Etla. He was greatly impacted by these beautiful experiences that would remain recorded in his mental archives.
The urge to depict these experiences through painting arose in his adolescence, and when his father asked him what he wanted to study, without hesitation he answered: “I WANT TO BE A PAINTER”; for his father, the only alternative for a farmer to get ahead was study; calmly and with his stern expression he replied: “THAT DOESN'T PUT FOOD ON THE TABLE”.
More than thirty years went by immersed in the tasks that put food on the table, since he studied and practiced a degree in accounting, and at the dawn of the 21st century he felt those mental archives that he had kept since childhood pulsing with greater vitality, and, summoning his courage, he began in a self-taught way and with great dedication and enthusiasm to work with brushes and other tools on canvas, paper, wood and recycled objects; the figurations of the insects he played with as a child, mixing them with customs and traditions, resulting in grasshoppers playing musical instruments as at the festivities and the mayordomías, or chicatana ants drinking mezcal, or crabs under a full moon, imbued with those beautiful colors that can only be seen in the countryside.
