Margot Acosta
Margot Acosta works in mixed media with acrylics, experimenting with different materials and forms. She has exhibited more than 40 times, including 7 solo shows, two biennials, and several honorable mentions and awards.
In her most recent work she created a mural for the Fundación Sebastian for the collection “Soledad” by Maestro Sebastian, and she has ventured into high-temperature ceramic sculpture. During the pandemic, she made a series of 50 small-format paintings as historical documents of the moment being lived, using an ironic and absurd narrative.
In her recurring themes, Margot seeks to convey realities that are both current and permanent about the human being and its surroundings. As the need to consume grows, our concern for the environment grows simultaneously; technology controls us, and as a consequence we experience a very great existential
emptiness in the human being; but we can see that this emptiness that governs us is, to a large extent, filled with the deepest and rawest feelings.
Now she delves into the world of animals and trees and their deep connection with nature. That nature altered and contaminated by humanity. Man projects his qualities and attributes onto nature, and they reflect back, in addition to qualities and attributes,
the duality and the dark nature of the human being, without the intermediary of the ego.
They are the mirror of our own extinction.
