Marcos Cortés

His training has taken place through different workshops and courses that have allowed him to broaden the possibilities of his work, constantly seeking to diversify it through different media and disciplines. His work continually explores the imaginary, through the observation of nature linked to the emotions; finding a point between the recognizable and the abstract.

Based on his empirical observations, he has been able to begin his career in the visual arts, inspired by nature and his personal experiences. He recounts that his interest in this discipline awoke at the age of 8, as his brother worked as a sign painter, and it was at the age of 12 that he began to help him in this trade.


Interested in the historical background of art, its techniques and styles, Cortés took courses in fresco murals, gourd engraving, encaustic painting, oil, and gilding. He also took part in the original and multiple color graphics workshop at the “La Curtiduría” Cultural Center and the workshop on current tools for the pictorial process at the Centro de las Artes de San Agustín (CaSa), among others.
